CHASMA LAUNCHES INTERACTIVE GAMES USING M7 NETWORKS CHALLENGE EXTENSION FOR QUALCOMM’s BREW ™ PLATFORM

Chasma and M7 Pave the Way for New Wave of Network Based Wireless Games

NASHUA, NH and LA JOLLA, CA (
March 17, 2003) – Chasma, Inc., a leading publisher of wireless games and entertainment software, and M7 Networks Inc., a leading BREW platform extension developer and provider of back-end, interactive wireless services, today announced the development of Bio Jam and Gem Jam games embedded with M7Challenge ™ high-score extension for QUALCOMM’s Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless ™ (BREW ™ ) platform. As a leading-edge publisher, Chasma is among the first companies to create wireless applications using a BREW extension to employ additional functionality and network connectivity.

Chasma’s updated, feature-packed games, along with M7 Networks’ high-score services, mark an evolution in wireless gaming. By embedding M7Challenge into Bio Jam and Gem Jam, Chasma can offer multi-player capabilities regardless of player location. At the completion of a Bio Jam or Gem Jam session, a player can submit their score and instantly view their ranking along with the Top 10 scores of other game players. Players can also view their score and ranking on Chasma’s website. Chasma anticipates sponsorship of future competitions and tournaments with prizes to high-score players.

Chasma and M7 will provide demonstrations of Bio Jam and Gem Jam at CTIA Wireless 2003 in New Orleans, LA. Bio Jam and Gem Jam is expected to be available through BREW-based operators by Q2 03’.

“Chasma is thrilled to be developing these interactive, network based applications for the BREW platform,” said David Bell, CEO of Chasma. “Using the M7 Challenge technology, Chasma is able to create and deploy truly compelling, competitive games on BREW in a very short timeframe. We believe that viewing other player scores and rankings will drive competition between players and increase the use of Chasma’s wireless games.”

“The M7Challenge extension sets the stage for multi-player capabilities allowing BREW developers and publishers to take existing games to a new level,” said William Erickson, CEO of M7 Networks. “Our goal is to provide technologies and services that enhance end-user experience and drive BREW application development and use.”

Erickson added, “Since M7Challenge includes not only the BREW extension but also the management of the high score infrastructure, M7Challenge has strong value for the developer as well as the end-user. We are excited that Chasma is the first publisher to embed the M7Challenge extension into its games with the anticipation it will enhance user experience and increase competition.”

QUALCOMM’s BREW ™ solution is a complete product and business ecosystem for the development and over-the-air deployment of data services on wireless devices. The BREW solution provides the necessary tools and value-added services to developers, device manufacturers and wireless operators for applications development and distribution, device configuration and billing and payment.
